Candidate for a position in the higher non-technical civil service
The "gehobener Dienst" is a career track under German civil service law.
Training begins on September 1 and lasts a total of three years. Applications are accepted annually from September 1 through November 30 for the upcoming training year.
During the training, you are a probationary city inspector and thus a civil servant with all the associated rights and obligations. Upon successful completion of the training, you will earn a degree as a Diplom-Verwaltungswirt/-in (FH).

Requirements
You should:
- be a German citizen or a citizen of another European Union member state
- hold a Fachhochschulreife, another university entrance qualification, or a level of education recognized as equivalent, or be set to obtain one by the hiring date
- meet the legal requirements for appointment as a civil servant

- legal studies and the application of the law,

- an affinity for written work,
- office and administrative work,
- working with data and numbers,

Theory
The theoretical training takes place as part of a degree program at the Thuringian University of Applied Administrative Sciences in Gotha.
Students have the option of living in the attached dormitory during their studies.

- Finance Department
- Internship at a State or Federal Agency
Perspectives
The City of Jena offers good opportunities for employment upon completion of your studies, preferably as a civil servant on probation.
Graduates with a degree in public administration can be assigned to all areas of general public administration.
You will primarily work in administrative roles and deal, for example, with approval procedures for construction projects. However, you may also take on cross-functional roles within a specialized department or government agency, dealing with areas such as finance, human resources, organization, or citizen services.
