IT specialist (f/m/d)

The city administration of Jena offers you the opportunity to complete a practice-oriented apprenticeship as an IT specialist (m/f/d) in the fields of application development and system integration and to gain valuable experience in a diverse working environment. Start of training

The apprenticeship starts on September 1st and usually lasts three years. If you perform well, the training period can be shortened by six months by early admission to the final examination.

Application deadline

Applications are invited annually from 20.12. to 31.01. for the coming training year.

Prerequisites

  • Successful secondary school leaving certificate or Abitur with good grades in mathematics, computer science and English
  • Interest in technical contexts and computer systems
  • passion for PCs and IT as a hobby with the desire to specialize in this field
  • Understanding of information and communication technology
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • careful, friendly, reliable and goal-oriented way of working and good manners

Practical experience

During your apprenticeship, you will work in various departments in our IT department, giving you a comprehensive insight into the diverse areas of responsibility of an IT specialist. You will be actively involved in the planning, development and implementation of IT systems and provide support and maintenance for our existing systems. You will also learn how to analyze and rectify faults and support our users with technical issues. Working closely with our experienced colleagues, you will have the opportunity to apply your theoretical knowledge in practice and gain valuable experience. The aim of this apprenticeship is to fully develop you into an expert in the field of IT so that you can support us in fulfilling our tasks.

The tasks include, for example

  • Providing technical support for employees with problems and questions
  • Installation and administration of hardware and software components
  • Networking servers, PCs and other components
  • Administration and monitoring of the municipal network
  • Development and implementation of individual solutions for our customers
  • Ensuring IT security in the city administration
  • Collaboration in projects in close cooperation with other departments

Theory

The skills, knowledge and abilities that are typical for the job description of an IT specialist are described in the IT Specialist Training Ordinance (FIAusbV) as follows:

  • Planning, preparing and carrying out work tasks in coordination with customer-specific business and service processes
  • Informing and advising customers
  • Assessing marketable IT systems and customer-specific solutions
  • Developing, creating and maintaining IT solutions
  • Carrying out and documenting quality assurance measures
  • Implementing, integrating and testing IT security and data protection measures
  • Providing services and completing orders
  • Operating IT systems
  • Commissioning storage solutions
  • Programming software solutions

The theoretical part of the training is carried out in the form of block lessons at the"Staatliches Berufsschulzentrum Hermsdorf-Schleiz-Pößneck" in Hermsdorf.

In addition to the general vocational school subjects, the following subjects are taught:

  • LF 2: Equip workstations according to customer requirements
  • LF 3: Integrating clients into networks
  • LF 4: Carrying out a protection needs analysis in your own work area
  • LF 5: Customize software for managing data
  • LF 6: Processing service requests
  • LF 7: Supplement cyber-physical systems
  • LF 8: Providing data across systems
  • LF 9: Providing networks and services

Depending on the specialization, further learning fields are added:

  • Specialization in application development:
    • LF 10a: Designing and developing user interfaces
    • LF 11a: Realizing functionality in applications
    • LF 12a: Carrying out customer-specific application development
  • Specialization System Integration
    • LF 10b: Provide server services and automate administration tasks
    • LF 11b: Ensuring the operation and security of networked systems
    • LF 12b: Carry out customer-specific system integration

In addition to vocational school, teaching content is also imparted through inter-company supplementary courses at the"ERFURT Bildungszentrum gGmbH".
