Food inspector (m/f/d) / Training as a food inspector (m/f/d)

The Zweckverband Veterinär- und Lebensmittelüberwachungsamt Jena-Saale-Holzland, based in Stadtroda, is looking for the above-mentioned employee from 01.10.2026.

The area of responsibility essentially comprises

  • Official monitoring of food, consumer goods, tobacco and cosmetics companies and enforcement of national and EU law
  • Collaboration in the processing of OWi, criminal and administrative proceedings
  • Taking official samples for submission to the inspection office
  • Advising food businesses on hygiene issues, internal controls, HACCP and construction projects
  • Collaboration in milk hygiene monitoring
  • Consumer advice and investigation of consumer complaints
  • Assisting with veterinary administration tasks as required

Our expectations of you

  • Successful completion as a food inspector (m/f/d) in accordance with the Food Inspector Ordinance
  • or: completed training and subsequently successfully completed further training in a food profession, e.g. master chef, master baker, master butcher or successfully passed state final examination as a technician in a food profession or other professional qualifications that meet the requirements of the Food Inspector Ordinance with the willingness to train as a food inspector (m/f/d)
  • Independent, responsible work and confident appearance as well as confident oral and written expression
  • assertiveness, organizational skills, ability to work in a team, reliability and physical resilience
  • good IT skills with Office programs are required; knowledge of the specialist application BALVI-iP is an advantage
  • flexible working hours and willingness to work outside normal working hours, including weekends and public holidays
  • Valid class B driving license

The position is full-time. Part-time employment may be possible following the training. If the professional and pay scale requirements are met, remuneration will be in accordance with pay group E 9b TVöD or for the period of training in accordance with pay group E 5 TVöD.
